Avoiding Ethical Pitfalls and Promoting an Ethical Culture: Lessons Learned from Unethical Behavior in Business
The paper presents lessons learned from the unethical behavior of a variety of business executives in the news including Enron, Tyco, Mitsubishi Motors, Arthur Anderson, Worldcom and others. The paper will focus on how businesses can avoid the ethics pitfalls into which so many other businesses have fallen. These include knowing and understanding what behavior is ethical or not ethical using some simple ethical tests based on moral concepts of ethics and the development of an ethical culture throughout the organization through managerial leadership.
